Higher Gods Than The President!

Weather  is making bigger news in USA now on national TV than anything that happens in Washington D.C. According to NBC news, twelve states and over 30 million people might be feeling the effect. There are scary typhoons and funnel shaped storms reaching high into the clouds as these spin at high speeds tearing up anything that stands in their way. One video snippet shows houses and cars submerged in what looked like a river that had changed course and decided to flow through a town. It's likely that houses each worth hundreds of thousands might float in that river just like the huts of poor people in northern India when the monsoon causes a flood to occur.

Here near Seattle, sun and rain seem to alternate with cold winds sandwiched in-between just when I assumed winter was over and it is time to fold the jackets…..

Update: Bangalore, once called the silicon valley of India, is also submerged in flood waters. Another report says a part of Australia is having a similar experience!

REAL ID from tomorrow!

As I was confused about the REAL ID news, I googled the phrase and found out that several documents qualify as REAL IDs including Green Card or a US passport or even a FOREIGN passport . However, because not all locals fly internationally they may not have a passport, therefore, the most convenient option for them is to get a new Real ID compliant Driver’s license provided they are US citizens.

Here is the official explanation…

What is REAL ID?

The REAL ID Act establishes minimum security standards for state-issued driver licenses and ID cards. Starting May 7, 2025, anyone traveling by airplane or visiting certain federal facilities must use a REAL ID-compliant document.

You may already have what you need!

REAL ID is a law, not an actual piece of ID. Per the law, there are many pieces of existing identification options that will work including:

Permanent Resident Card (Green Card)

U.S. Military ID

U.S. Passport

U.S. Passport Card

Foreign Passport

Enhanced Driver License (EDL)

Enhanced Identification Card (EID)

Federally Recognized Tribal-issued Photo ID

Border Crossing Card

U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services Employment Authorization Card (I-766)
