Mrs. Chatterjee vs Norway - Western Child Protective SYSTEM vs Indian Mother

The cold SYSTEM, in the shape of Norway's fair skinned ladies , have been visiting Mrs Chatterjee's home to 'study' their behavior towards their two children. You see, they don't like the informal ways and traditions of the Indian parents! The strange Indian custom of eating with hands and putting bindis on the forehead is repulsive to the ladies. So they kidnap the kids while the parents are having an argument in another room of the house!

The rest of the movie is about how Mrs. Chatterjee pleads with the Child Protective services and the courts to return the two kids back to her. It is heartbreaking to see an Indian parent reduced to such pitiful condition when they become victim of Western mindset. Mrs. C steals her kids from the foster parents, with whom CPS has placed her kids, and tries to escape in a train. However, she is caught and sent to deportation. 

At the final conference regarding the custody, the mother is forced into agreeing to allow the kids to live with a seemingly caring Indian friend of her husband who is also from Bengal.

Back in India, the 'friend' forcibly blocks Mrs. C from seeing her children He lies to the local judge that the children don't want to see their mother. You see, the country of Norway is paying him lakhs to take care of the kids. As mentioned in court proceedings that friend had collected 80 lakhs.It is  that local judge who finally agrees to return the kids back to the mother after observing their loving behavior towards the mother in his chamber.The parents and the kids have suffered for no reason!

Norway had also sent their representative to take the kids back to Norway. Their argument was that the mother might not be able to take care of the children as well as they would be taken care of in Norway. The father remained in Norway. However, the mother won.

Corollary: If there had been a fight between the parents as to which parent will have the custody and if each parent had made allegations against the other with the help of private lawyers, the case would have become even more complicated and expensive - a sure way to bankruptcy. Much more expensive would have been the cost of mental health of the children in the lecherous and greedy world when living in a single parent home in a foreign land.
